Managing pain and symptoms
More than half of all Americans have acute, intermittent, or chronic pain; most people will experience episodes of pain throughout their lifetime. Pain is real and can be managed to give you comfort and help you to participate in your daily activities.
As people age they tend to react to pain and medications differently and may not get relief from their pain or other symptoms. Pain interferes with a person's ability to recover from an illness, heal, concentrate, and sleep. It can also interfere with their ability to perform daily activities and take care of their needs for nutrition, exercise, and rest. There are numerous medical and non-medical means to treat pain and other symptoms that cause discomfort.
The Natick VNA nursing and therapy staff is knowledgeable in the assessment and management of pain. Registered nurses who are Board Certified in Pain Management will work with you and your physician to identify strategies to manage your pain and improve your comfort level.
