Frequently Asked Questions
How does the program work?
MetroWest Meds will complete one application for each prescribed medication that you are currently taking. After you and your doctor sign the application, it is sent to the appropriate pharmaceutical company for review. In most cases, if approved, the pharmaceutical company will send a three-month supply of your medication to your doctor’s office for you to pick up.
Can I get my medications immediately?
No. The MetroWest Meds program does not distribute medications. We submit an application for your medications to the pharmaceutical company. The process takes approximately 4-6 weeks from the time of application to when you receive your medications.
Who pays for the medications? If it is the pharmaceutical company’s program, the medication may be free or partially reimbursed by the pharmaceutical company.
Individuals who use Natick VNA’s drug card are being assisted thanks to a grant from the MetroWest Community Health Care Foundation.
Is MetroWest Meds an insurance policy?
No. This program simply helps people access the patient assistance programs set up by pharmaceutical companies.
Who decides if I’m eligible?
Individual pharmaceutical companies decide who is eligible to receive their product.
