Your 'hometown VNA' for more than a century The Natick Visiting Nurse Association is the MetroWest area's premier free-standing, not-for-profit home health care provider. Since 1899, the Natick VNA, has been a vital resource, often the “safety net,” for thousands of people. We are here to give care at home for those recovering from surgery or other medical problems, following a hospital stay that is often brief. We give support to many frail, at-risk elderly individuals, helping them to live with maximum independence in their own homes, teach new parents how to develop sound parenting skills. We also support those at the end of their lives.
During the past year, our dedicated team of nurses, home care aides, rehabilitation therapists, social workers, and registered dietitians made more than 90,000 home visits to more than 2,000 individuals in our 20-town service area. With the support of a top-notch business department, these clinicians have made health care at home a high quality, cost-effective alternative to hospitalization or other institutional care. The 135 members of the Natick VNA team are not only highly skilled professional care givers, or experts with insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid billing, they are also friends and advocates for the numerous patients and families who need help navigating the health care delivery system. Many who read this letter may have received the benefit of our help, or may know of folks who have.
In addition to our health care team, our volunteer Board of Trustees, all of whom live or work in our agency’s service area, spends countless hours in support of our mission. The Board has devoted talent, time, and financial resources for the betterment of our programs. Further, they contribute their skills and expertise with no remuneration for their work. The Board of Trustees shares in our success.
We are also fortunate to have Friends of Natick VNA, volunteers who provide many hours of service on our behalf during the year. They assist at our community health screenings, with our fundraising activities, with other community outreach efforts, and with some clerical support in our office. These volunteers serve as goodwill ambassadors for our organization.
The Natick VNA also owes its success, to the myriad individuals in Natick and its surrounding communities who have given so generously to our agency through unsolicited gifts and memorial contributions. Their funds support many folks who lack the financial resources for home care. The donations are crucial to our ability to serve those who lack health insurance coverage or other means of paying for much needed care. The Natick VNA provides more than $400,000 of un-reimbursed home health care and medical supplies each year. The need for funding continues to grow as our population ages and we experience changes in Medicare, Medicaid, and other funding. We are grateful to all who support us.
I am proud to be associated with such terrific staff and volunteers and to be providing services in MetroWest. The Natick VNA staff and volunteers are the backbone of our organization. Their dedication and commitment make our business of caring for this community possible. With your help and support, we intend to continue our proud tradition of caring for MetroWest residents well into the future. Thank you to all. |
